2nd Annual Dead Leaves Doubles – Wrap Up & Results

The 2nd Annual Dead Leaves Doubles is in the books and it was a HUGE success. Though we only had 6 more teams than last year, we managed to raise 3 times as much money as last year. We now have the funding to purchase a new basket and have 12 permanent holes on the course.

We don’t even know where to begin thanking people. First we’d like to thank everyone that came out to the event, without your support Adam and I would not have the means to keep making improvement to the course. We’d like to thank Gene Turchetti who donated the $200 added cash for the event. We need to thank Karen Garytock who donated the hotdogs and buns for lunch, Fran Graytock who lent us his grill, and Alan Mindas Sr, who did the cooking. Also need to thank Missi Solt for the macaroni salad, Mary Mindas for the brownies, and Holly Mindas for the pretzels. We have to thank Jesse Graytock who donated the CTB prizes. We want to thank the people that donated some of all of their winnings back to the course, and the people who just handed us extra cash. A big thanks to Jimmy Wolfe, Ryan Jones, and Billy Bowman for their help getting the course ready. Also a thank you to everyone who lent us portable baskets. Thank you to Mike Solt (Mr. Disc Golf) for doing our online registration and bringing all his supplies to the course.

I am sure i am forgetting to thank some people, but you know who you are and everyone’s efforts were greatly appreciated. Be sure to keep a lookout for next years event.

Labor Day Work Weekend

We will be getting some course work done this weekend in preparation for the Dead Leaves Doubles. But first, we need to cleanup the mess that Hurricane Irene left. We will also be finishing the fairway for the new hole and chipping as many piles of branches that we can find. Then we will build a tee box for the new hole and sink an alternate sleeve for Hole 5. I’m sure there is other stuff that needs doing, so why don’t you grab some work gloves and a can-do attitude and come help us make the course even better.

New basket has been purchased

Good news: with the sale of the custom Kennedy Park minis, we were able to purchase another basket! This basket will go on Hole 8 (baseball field hole) and will make all 11 holes on the course playable. Stay tuned for news about another potential hole we have in the works.

Something’s different around here

If you’ve stopped by in the last week or so, you probably noticed that things have been kind of broken around here. Well there’s a perfectly good reason. We’ve been launching a new design, and it required breaking things just a little bit.

The site should be fully functional now, but you’ll notice that some content is missing, the course pages in particular. We’ve added new holes, tees, and pin locations—and done so much other work on the course itself over the last year that those pages weren’t really useful anyway. We’ve got new photos ready to go and we’re working on new descriptions for the course and each of the hole.

In the meantime, enjoy the new site, especially our new forum. If you’ve got any thoughts on the new site or the improvements we’ve made to the course, please don’t be shy. Register an account and post some feedback in the forum.

And don’t forget to leave a nice review on DG Course Review!

Doubles Results – 5-1-11

We had 6 players come out for the first Doubles round this year. We played the full 10 the first round, but couldn’t play Hole 7 second time through due to a Little League game.

Alan and Adam: 50
Matt and Santina: 61
Rob and Bob: 73

$18 was paid to winners, with $6 being added to the course fund. No aces, so the pot is now at $33.

Weekly Doubles will be held on Thursday evenings at 6p.m.
