Labor Day Work Weekend

We will be getting some course work done this weekend in preparation for the Dead Leaves Doubles. But first, we need to cleanup the mess that Hurricane Irene left. We will also be finishing the fairway for the new hole and chipping as many piles of branches that we can find. Then we will build a tee box for the new hole and sink an alternate sleeve for Hole 5. I’m sure there is other stuff that needs doing, so why don’t you grab some work gloves and a can-do attitude and come help us make the course even better.

New basket has been purchased

Good news: with the sale of the custom Kennedy Park minis, we were able to purchase another basket! This basket will go on Hole 8 (baseball field hole) and will make all 11 holes on the course playable. Stay tuned for news about another potential hole we have in the works.

Tee Box Weekend May 9th

We have finally decided on a weekend that we will begin putting in tee boxes on the course.  On Friday, May 8th, we will be picking up materials for the tee boxes and doing a bit of prep work.  On May 9th, the fun begins as we level the ground for most tees and build the tee boxes.  Hopefully during that week, the borough will have dropped of a ton or two of stone dust that we will use for the surface of the tee pads.  Once a few of the boxes are built, we will start filling them in.  The first 5 holes (the woods) will most likely be our starting point.

We received a new sponsorship this past weekend from Graytock Enterprises.  Thank you to all that have sponsored!  Be sure to check out the sponsors page for a complete list of our sponsors.

Work Day 1 Recap

Day 1 of course work was a successful, yet tiresome success.  We were able to clear the fairways for the first 5 holes, as well as set the sleeves for those holes.  Lots of tree cutting was involved, and we cleared out some pretty decent fairways.  Tomorrow we will put the baskets in and do some work on the temporary teepads.  We will also put up the temp tee signs and some directional signs to the next tee.  By tomorrow afternoon, the first 5 holes will be totally playable.  Pics of the work days will be up soon.

Course work to begin 5/24

All the baskets have been ordered, the UPS driver delivered them while muttering curses under his breath, and we got the green light from the park board to start work on the course.  We will be working on Saturday 5/24 and Sunday 5/25, beginning on holes 1 through 4 (possibly 5?).  All of these holes are in the woods behind the playground area and will need some tree cutting and fairway grooming.  Our goal is to get all of the cutting done, all the holes dug, and all of the sleeves put in concrete on Saturday.  On Sunday, we will be assembling and placing the baskets in the sleeves, as well as constructing temporary tee pads.

By the end of the weekend, the first 4 or 5 holes will be completely playable.

Anyone who is interested in helping is welcome to come up and meet us at the park.
